It’s been a couple of years since I journeyed to Atlanta for a car show. Hell, I nearly didn’t even this time, but I still forced myself out of bed at 2:30 AM just to make it in time. I was greeted with many a Mercedes, some shrewd negotiation, and a strange French thing. Worth it? Yeah, probably. Here’s the highlights.
VinWiki’s Ed Bolian brought out his rare Murcielago LP640 with a true manual gearbox, which he recently got repainted into Verde Draco. He was a nice guy.
I’m pretty certain this Volcano Red 720S is a Birmingham native, or lives nearby. I spotted this car originally at a Cars and Coffee closer to home.
A couple of cars made famous by James Bond, albeit in their final forms: The Esprit V8 and the V12 Vanquish S.
Fine Red Italians, brought to you by Chick-Fil-A...apparently.
To this day I’m not 100% certain if I’ve seen a genuine 356 or not. I want to believe.
Classic 911s (two of which are targas) are sure to get Oppo in a tizzy.
Vossen wheels brought out a select few cars riding on some of their wheels. Unfortunately the new G63 was riding on the ugliest of the bunch. Kinda dig those turbofanesque wheels the old G63 had on.
A local Chevrolet dealer brought out some cars, including the new Blazer (which I love), a Camaro Hot Wheels edition (hit or miss), and this ZL1 1LE (which is monstrous).
The late 60s Catalina is an odd looking car, but it is pretty nonetheless.
Some Swedish meatballs. Not pictured is the NG 9-5 sat next to the 900 SPG up top. That 900 SPG is amazing by the way.
A new G63 and GLE 63 Coupe gate off an area that had a huge showing from the Atlanta chapter of the Mercedes-Benz Owners Club of America. I couldn’t go around taking pics of every Benz in attendance, but I did take some pics of my favorites, including the Hammer wagon, a 500E, and a Euro-spec manual 300CE.
My mom loves this Copper 280Z. I think it’s just ok.
I’ve decided I need a Hiace in my life.
A local car importing business brought out a fair selection of smol bois .
Remember when Mitsubishi made awesome cars? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Some big, American, pre-war Iron. The 1940 LaSalle was a treat.
Two wagons of completely opposing sides. Side note, where can I find a Roadmaster wagon that isn’t too expensive?
Amphicar with a train horn. I love it.
A couple of very yellow, very cool Toyotas.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I thought it was perfect planning to see an old Squarebak next to an OG Subaru GL. Cars that make me realize just how much I love wagons.
My favorite 911. Sort of. It’s not a Carrera 4S, but it does look the part. I know, I’m crazy.
My first 912 sighting. I never quite understood why so many people love these, until I saw one in person.
And finally, that weird French thing that got featured on Jalopnik (I posted it here first). It’s a striking car, no doubt, and I hope Peugeot manages to make it work in the US.

I forgot this was the weekend for C&O. Let me know if you come down in the future and I will bring the Mini.
Also, I’m guessing some of those folks from west of ATL got pounded by the weather on the way home.

The title says the photos are from last weekend. I was thinking the same thing!

Nice! I looked through these photos to see if I knew anyone, and I did, so that’s successful.

I don’t normally click on c&c posts, but that lead image! Then no pictures of the engine bay. Such a tease! If that blue S124 actually had an AMG 4 cam engine that’s an extremely rare beast.
Based on what I can see in the pic with the hood up, it looks like an M117 engine. Which is a SOHC V8. Two cams. But AMG made a variant of it with M119 heads for the C126 560SEC-AMG (not the normal 560SEC). Which would then make it a four cam engine. It’s so rare that most Mercedes people have never heard of it and call bullshit when told about it.
But they also made the E60 AMG in the 124, mostly sedans though. This used the M119 punched out to 6.0L. Also exceedingly rare. I know of one in existence in wagon form.
Either of these engines in this car would make the venerable 500E (which used the 5.0L version of the M119) look like an utter turd.
Just realized the coupe next to it might have the same engine!!!

Did you the Japan-ordered 320TE-AMG on BaT? Surprised no one has posted it yet.
